To achieve ABC’s STEP Diamond level, among other requirements, a company must have a total recordable incident rate at least 50 percent below specific industry averages for the previous data year, maintain an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of 0.700 (for small companies with less than 100 employees, the EMR limit is 0.800), submit their official U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Forms 300 and 300A on work-related injuries and illnesses for review, and achieve a specific STEP self-evaluation score.  As a Diamond Level Contractor, Meyer Najem participates in the ABC Indiana Chapter/Indiana Department of Labor Partnerships.

STEP was established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety Committee to assist ABC member contractors in evaluating and improving corporate safety practices and recognize outstanding safety training efforts. STEP awards are presented annually in six categories: Participant, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Each year, over 2,000 contractors of various sizes participate in the STEP program.

Meyer Najem provides construction management, design-build and general contracting services throughout the Midwest, Southeast and Colorado.  Primary markets include healthcare, senior living, government/municipal and institutional projects.
