This year, the DBIA Great Lakes Region will hold our first awards program for projects completed in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin & Michigan--and we want you to participate! The region will present awards for projects in the following 12 categories: Educational Under $10 Million               Over $10 MillionÂ
Industrial Under $10 Million         Over $10 Million                   Â
Water/Wastewater Under $10 Million Over $10 Million
Healthcare Under $10 Million Over $10 Million
Transportation Under $10 Million Over $10 Million
Institutitional/Commercial/Retail Under $10 Million Over $10 Million
A thirteenth award will also be presented to the Best Overall Project.   The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2010  The awards will be presented at the 1st Annual DBIA-GLR Golf Outing and Awards Luncheon on August 6, 2010 at Saddlebrook Golf Course in Indianapolis and the winner of the Best Overall Project will have the opportunity to present their project at a Region "Project Profile" event scheduled for November 2010. |

Directions - Big Car Fountain Square (Big Car FS) is located in the Murphy building, at the corner of Woodlawn and Virginia Ave. in Fountain Square just southeast of Downtown. Turn right on Woodlawn (at Skip's Market) and left on St. Patrick's. Park behind the Murphy Art Center and enter through the glass back door with the Big Car sign. Or park along Virginia Ave. and walk around to the back of the building and enter. It is also OK to pass through iMOCA (be sure to stop and check it out) and then access Big Car from the back hallway. The gallery is upstairs in Suite 215.
"Concrete's Role in the Evolution of High Performance Building Design and Construction" - A one hour seminar that includes a slide presentation reviewing the U. S. Green Building Council's LEED certification and concrete's contribution to LEED accreditation. An overview of concrete's important role in the evolution of high performance building design and construction, important facts about concrete and cement manufacturing and their how impact on the environment, and examples of how innovation in manufacturing and ingenuity in design have helped concrete and cement evolve in stride with the sustainable building industry. Speaker Bio: Joshua Coggeshall has been practicing architecture for the past 19 years. He has been a partner in the firm Shimizu + Coggeshall Architects since 2000. Their work has been published both nationally and internationally. He currently holds the position of Graduate Director of the Master of Architecture Professional Program at Ball State University and has held positions at Woodbury University, SCI-Arc and Otis College of Art and Design since 1999. He has a Masters Degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Design from Texas A+M University. |
